Joystiq Age illustration

joystiqage-blogpic

I just did an illustration for the Joystiq Podcast. It turned out really nice and I hope to keep doing more and offering them up as limited edition prints in the future.

If you’re interested, I made up some wallpapers with the art:

Bionic Commando Lunch Box

I usually have zero interest in the pre-order bonuses that accompany new releases, but this is too awesome:

And the wrap around graphic is genius:

Super Mario World

Some old fashioned fun.

So I my xbox got red ringed last week and I’ve decided to plug in my dreamcast for a bit. Two things happen whenever I do this: 30 minutes later I look up Dreamcast arcade sticks on ebay, and then I wish that Jet Grind Radio controlled better. It looks like an arcade stick is about sixty bucks, so I probably won’t succumb to that urge anytime soon. Jet Grind Radio usually just makes me mad whenever I play it, since it has some of the clunkiest controls of any game that I actually enjoy playing.

I had hoped to download the new Halo map, Cold Storage, but alas, the red ring. I was mildly interested at first, until I realized that it wasn’t a remake of Damnation, but Chill Out, a map I never much cared for. Everytime they release new maps, I can’t help but pine for a few old classics that I hope will eventually get modern versions. My favorite maps from the olden days of multiple xboxen setups are Prisoner and Boarding Action. I don’t think any of the new maps have the fun verticality of prisoner, and I’ve never had as much fun with sniper rifles than on Boarding Action.

There’s also 2 maps from the PC game that I’d love to see revamped. Gephyrophobia, Ice Fields, and Danger Canyon were all fun maps, but they’re probably a bit too big to get proper remakes. Gephyrophobia got a partial Halo 3 revamp with Narrows, but it’s not the same as the giant 2 level bridge, with cliff ledges on either side.

So that’s that. I guess I’ll be playing Einhander next.

Kick Puncher Turbo: The Uppercut Chronicles

Artwork for a show with some friends, soon to be a print available at the comic-con.

Final Version of the Deathbar print

Some painting works in progress

Here’s some paintings I’m working on for an upcoming show. I plan on turning them into a set of prints to sell at conventions. There’s a few more in the works, but I don’t want to get to far ahead of myself.

Munny Chief rides again.

Here’s a bit more progress on the Munny Chief. I think I’ve got the shading style and outlining down, so now it’s just a matter of going through all the armor bits and detailing everything.  munnycheif.jpg

Mustachio Strife Color Test

Here’s the color version of that last Mustachio sketch. I’m pretty sure I’ll use this style for any prints I make because I like the way the rough pencil contrasts with the smooth coloring. The original pencil art also looks really nice. I also want to try out Painter sometime soon to see how that compares. Next time I’ll draw him atop his awesome motorcycle, or perhaps battling some sort of long haired dinosaur guy.

Finally, a Bleached Blond Mustachio

He’s got amnesia and a mysterious past, and I’m not sure what power his sword is set up with. A pencil test for a color version. I’m going to get some practice in before I do the next comic cover, whic will be in a similar pencils-with-color style. FF7pencilTest
